There’s something special about a Saturday morning in a small town—the kind where nobody is in too much of a hurry, neighbors stop to visit, stories get passed from one generation to another, and there’s always room for one more rocking chair.

This fall, the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce and Visit Smithville Texas invite you to experience a little of that at Meet Me at the Depot, a new First Saturday series at the historic Smithville MKT Depot & Railroad Park.

They don’t make Saturdays like this anymore. We do.

On the first Saturdays of September, October and November, we’re slowing things down a little.

Pull up a rocking chair and listen to porch stories and railroad memories from folks who know them firsthand. Challenge somebody to a game of checkers or dominoes. Wander through the classic cars cruisin’ in. Listen while somebody’s pickin’ in the park. Take a trolley ride around town. Bring the kids for storytelling, grab some iced tea or lemonade—or simply find a comfortable spot and enjoy the company.

There’s no complicated agenda and no need to rush. Come for an hour or stay all morning.

Hear stories about Smithville, its people and its railroad heritage from those who remember it—and those helping preserve those stories for the next generation.

🚗 Classic-Car Cruise-In
Take a stroll among classic cars and spend a little time talking with the people who keep them cruising.

🎶 Live Music
Sit back and enjoy live music in the park while you visit, explore and enjoy your Saturday morning.

♟️ Checkers & Dominoes
Pull up a chair and play a round—or two. Beginners, experts and friendly competition are all welcome.

🚋 Trolley Rides
Hop aboard and enjoy a trolley ride through Smithville.

📖 Kids’ Storytelling
Bring the younger generation along for stories and activities designed especially for them.

🍋 Lemonade & Concessions
Grab something refreshing while you enjoy the morning.

❤️ Good Company
Maybe the most important part. Meet somebody new, catch up with an old friend, share a story and enjoy being part of the Smithville community.
