    Visitor and New Resident Bags – There is still time to get your marketing items to the Chamber for the Visitors and New Residents bags. Business cards and small give-a-ways are best. This is a great way to advertise your business for free.

    CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: The Chamber of Commerce is privileged each year to award a Citizen of the Year to one person who has made a difference in our community.  Do you have someone you would like to nominate?  Someone who has gone above and beyond for the Smithville community?  We will be accepting nominations until January 31, 2017.  Nomination forms can be picked up at the Chamber office or call us at 512-237-2313 and we’ll send you one via e-mail. 

    CALL FOR OLD PHOTOGRAPHS – 2017 Marks the 70th year the Smithville area Chamber of Commerce has served Smithville and surroundings area. We are looking for old photographs of chamber events, functions and staff. We would also like photos of old buildings and other interesting places that have changed through the years. If you have some photos you would like to share with us please call the office at 512-237-2313.

    Book Discussion - you are invited to a book discussion Jan. 16 – Feb. 27,  meeting  Monday evenings 6-7:15 at Chel Place, 207 Olive Street, in downtown Smithville.  The book is How Jesus Saves the World From Us by Morgan Guyton, Methodist Campus pastor at Tulane University.  The book subtitle is “12 Antidotes to Toxic Christianity”.  This discussion is open for all to participate as they look at the church of the past, present and future and how they might be a Christian church faithful to the calling of Jesus.  Copies of the book are $12 and they will be available through the office of First United Methodist Church, 400 Olive Street or and at the class the first night.  Facilitators for the class will be Kent Bohls and David Doerfler.  All questions can be directed to kentbohls@gmail.com.  Please invite others and spread the word.
