    Our August Mixer will be hosted by Edward Jones Investments, Reed Morgan, at 301 Royston (in the log cabin) on Thursday, August 17 at 5pm.  Live music, chair massages, fantastic food and beverages are on the menu.  Join us for a great networking event.

    The Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce is participating in the staff back to school breakfast at Smithville ISD on Monday, August 21. The purpose of the breakfast is to welcome the new staff back to work and introduce the new staff members to the Smithville community.  Please consider providing a coupon, buy one get one, gift with purchase, or other promotion inviting the teachers & staff to visit your business.  Items like that or any giveaways like pens, notepads, (consider an individual bag of candy - like a snickers bar with your business info on a sticker attached to the candy), etc. for 250  bags that will be given to the staff at the back to school staff event August 21. You can bring items to the Chamber office anytime between the hours of 10am-4pm Monday through Friday. We need all items by 12pm on Wednesday, August 16 in order to have all bags ready for the staff breakfast.   We will be providing goody bags for the attendees that will include information from our Chamber members. We encourage you to provide information about your business or organization.  This gives them an opportunity to be familiar with your business and organization.

    You are cordially invited to attend the Birthday Celebration for one of Smithville’s founders, Dr. Thomas Jefferson Gazley. Please join us for a recitation of history from the Smithville Boy Scout and Cub Scout Troop 183, the changing of the flags, and the dedication of two benches in memory of another famous Smithvillian, Billy Davis (sponsored by the Smithville Chamber of Commerce Keep Smithville Beautiful Committee).     The Smithville Chamber of Commerce congratulates Chamber member Carlos Liriano of Lost Pines Toyota. Carlos Liriano was awarded the Diversity Advocacy Award from the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers (NAMAD). The award was presented at the 2017 NAMAD Annual Conference, which was held at the Fontainebleau in Miami, Florida in July. The Diversity Advocacy Award is given to automotive field leaders who are dedicated to helping minorities pursue their career dreams in the automobile industry. Born in Cuba, Carlos Liriano and his parents immigrated to America and made a home in New Orleans, Louisiana when he was nine years old. Now as Dealer Principal of Lost Pines Toyota and founder of the Liriano Family Foundation, Carlos is renowned for his diversity advocacy.  Liriano’s outreach activities not only promote minority prosperity but also aim to assist the community as a whole. Congratulations Carlos Liriano!

    The Smithville Food Pantry has been providing supplemental nutrition for elderly, disabled, and low income individuals in the Smithville, Texas community since the mid-1990s. With the growing need in the community, the food pantry has expanded in recent years.
